Laboratory Supervisor

LaboratorySupervisor Basic Function: Supervise laboratory team. Ensure that criticallaboratory systems and instruments (GC, HPLC, ICP, combustion analyzer, flowinjection analyzer, etc.) are maintained and operating within establishedparameters. The Laboratory Supervisor works in tandem with the LaboratoryManager to coordinate daily duties and laboratory tasks includingexperimentation, method development, sample prioritization and analysis, QA/QC,shift schedules, and laboratory maintenance. Quality Assurance Manager

Quality Assurance Manager Basic Function Manage, direct and coordinate the quality control staff activities at our clients facility. Assure that ingredients, packaging and finished products meets established specs, that established manufacturing procedures are followed and that plants are operating in conformance with federal, state and local laws and regulations. Also must work in conjunction with plant management and corporate QA Senior Management to maintain the SQF program. Responsible for Food and Employee Safety and Plant Security. Scope of Responsibility ? Manage and coordinate the section and grading of raw materials, ingredients, containers and finished goods in accordance with predetermined specifications ? Assure that all products are manufactured and produced in compliance with established client and customer policies and guidelines, good manufacturing practices, FDA, USDA, State and Local regulations ? Actively participate in the resolution of production and quality related problems in cooperation with other department managers ? Coordinate annual and periodic trainings and audits, maintain, update and develop QC manuals and procedures ? Develop and maintain all aspects of the SQF program Specialized Knowledge and Experiences BS in Food Science or related field knowledge. Years of broad based food experience, preferably in Quality Control and technical services. Strong supervisory and communication (oral and written) skills are essential Duties and Responsibilities ? Responsible for day to day operation of the QC Lab to include: supervision of QC personnel, lab operations, and testing procedures of raw materials and finished product; ensuring regulatory compliance, and assuring that QC policies and procedures are correctly implemented with adherence to our client, customer, and regulatory standards ? Hire, train, manage, and motivate quality control inspectors, technicians and other quality professionals ? Provide leadership for and actively participate in periodic trainings and technical training programs for management trainees, manufacturing and quality control personnel. ? Develop and implement inspection programs and other quality programs to ensure compliance with established policies, procedures and specifications ? Ensure that all periodic QC reviews, audits and trainings, eg GMP, HACCP, Plant Security, Food Safety, Foreign Material, Chemical, Recall, Pest Control, and other quality systems are scheduled, conducted and signed off ? Update and maintain QC manuals, customer QC manuals, equipment manuals and procedures manuals to ensure compliance with product and packaging consistency, food safety and quality standards. ? Supervise periodic independent audits, internal audits, daily process reviews and daily inspection results. Note trends and develop improvement plans in coordination with other departments. ? Provide leadership for the identification, investigation and troubleshooting of foreign objects or substances found in raw material or finished product ? Interact with all levels of plant management to provide quality and food-safety related information and to keep the plant manager and production supervisor apprised of quality and food safety concerns ? Assist in the development and writing of policies, finished product specifications, ingredient specifications, packaging specifications and processing procedures. Implement and maintain the same. ? Ensure that all products failing to meet predetermined specifications are identified, tagged, segregated and given proper disposition. Employ or utilize tracking systems for the quick resolution of held stock. ? Represent the department when working with various governmental regulatory agencies, customers, suppliers, etc as directed by the Director of Quality Assurance & Research and Development.
