Terms of Service

Welcome! By using EnvironmentalChemistry.com (here after referred to as "we", "this site", "this website" or "our"), you agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions (terms of service). These terms and conditions are designed to help us ensure the long-term viability of this site. They are also designed to aid us in maintaining a high quality of service by prohibiting those activities that take unfair advantage of this site, unfairly drive up our operational costs or have a negative impact on our ability to serve all users.

RSS Feed

We publish an XML based RSS (really simple syndication) feed, which allows users to pull a quick list of our latest articles with a link to each article and a brief description of each article. This RSS feed may be republished on news aggregation websites/webpages provided each article title/description links back to the parent article on EnvironmentalChemistry.com. Please note that due to our publishing schedule it is not necessary to pull our RSS more often than once a day or as is noted in the TTL (time to live) statement in the XML file itself.

Only the RSS feed from this site may be republished (provided it is updated on a regular basis). Any articles published on this site MAY NOT BE REPUBLISHED in any manner including on other websites without written permission of this site's owner.

Blocking of Banner Ads

If you block ads, please consider making a donation via Bitcoin, Litecoin or Paypal.

We understand that many users may find banner advertising annoying. This website, however, is not sponsored or produced by some faceless rich corporation or public entity. This site is the product of the hard labor of one individual and his family. Producing and delivering the content on this site is expensive. We income from either advertising or donations in order to pay for hosting fees and/or pay writers to write new articles.

Spidering, Caching or Prefetching this Site

The spidering, caching and prefetching of this site for purposes other than indexing for a publicly accessible search engine (e.g. Google, MSN Search, Yahoo, etc.) using automated methods is strictly prohibited. This prohibition includes the use of MSIE's "make available off-line" feature. WITHOUT EXCEPTION THIS SITE MAY NOT BE SPIDERED for the purpose of making an archival copy of this site without the express written permission of the site's owner--this prohibition extends to academic institutions and libraries.

This site may only be spidered by bots that: 1) completely obey the robots.txt file (including entries for that specific bot) and meta-tag instructions in the webpages them self; 2) properly identify themselves in the useragent string; and 3) spider this site for the purposes of indexing the site for a PUBLICLY accessible search engine (e.g. Google, Yahoo, etc.). We reserve the right to ban any search engine bot that abuses our resources or fails to obey indexing instructions.

Individuals and institutions other than public search engines are prohibited from spidering, caching and prefetching this site because it places an extraordinary demand on our resources due to the size of this site which is currently around 20,000 pages. Not only do these practices drive up our operational costs, but if poorly configured, these types of software can place undo demands upon our server that in turn denies others the ability to access our resources.
