Project Ecologist

We are seeking an experienced Ecologist to support Woodard & Curran ecological, environmental, remediation and permitting projects. Candidate would independently lead tasks that could include regulatory permitting, environmental documentation, leadership and management of field teams, project site investigations, wetland and stream delineations, protected species studies and permitting, benthic or aquatic sampling, oversight of construction activities such as erosion control, exploratory drilling, soil and groundwater sampling and tank/pipe sampling. In order to perform the tasks of required in this position, the candidate needs to have thorough knowledge and applied experience with the following areas: * Southeastern U.S. flora, fauna, and natural systems. * Wetland and stream delineation in the Southeast U.S. is a must; experience in other US regions preferred. * Protected species surveys, habitat analyses and delineations. * Stream assessment, watershed studies, and restoration projects. * Biological sampling experience. * Permitting activities including USACE stream and wetland permitting, USFWS endangered species coordination, and GA EPD stream buffer coordination and variance procedures. * GA EPD erosion and sediment control permits and requirements. Qualifications: * Knowledge of and experience completing environmental studies and permitting for state and federal regulated projects. * BS in natural resources, ecology, biology, wildlife, fisheries, or related discipline * Master's degree preferred. * 5 + years' experience with ecological and permitting projects. * Professional Registration; Professional Wetland Scientist preferred. * Membership in appropriate professional societies. * Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office and ARC GIS. * Excellent scientific writing skills. * Ability to work long hours in a variety of weather conditions . * Ability to traverse project corridors and sites and carry equipment (up to 40 lbs). * Experience with and ability to operate 4x4 vehicles off road. * Willingness to travel as project requires. Wetland/Permitting/T&E Species Specialist - Environmental Scientist

Wetland/Permitting/T&E Species Specialist - Environmental Scientist Dewberry is seeking candidates who are knowledgeable in the identification of Threatened and Endangered (T&E) Species and their habitats, as well as proficient in the identification and delineation of wetlands using N.J. Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) regulatory guidance manuals. Individuals also should have experience in the preparation of permit applications required by these agencies, including General/Nationwide/Individual Wetland Permits, and Coastal Wetland Permits, including Waterfront Development and CAFRA permits, as well as NEPA documents. Ideal candidates must have 8 to 10 years of experience and be able to prepare ecological assessments, perform threatened and endangered species surveys, and be familiar with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Ecological Risk Assessment procedures. Experience using Geographical Information Systems and Global Positioning Systems is a plus. Responsibilities: Coordinate visits with clients and regulatory agencies in the field. Conduct T&E species studies/habitat evaluations/reporting to NJDEP and USFWS; Phase 2 Bog Turtle Surveyor certification is a plus.
